Care Guide

Each pair of Done by Matea shoes comes with a tag or note detailing the materials used. Please see the list below for information on caring for your shoes, and ensuring their longest life possible.

Puffy Heels
The uppers on these are made from 100% Natural Mulberry Silk lined with leather. I advise that you seal them with something like Scotchgard before wearing out. They should be kept away from moisture as this still may cause marks on the silk. To clean, wipe gently with a damp cloth and dry immediately. The silk upper may be able to be dry cleaned, consult your local cleaner for more info.

With significant wear, the leather soles or heel rubber may need to be replaced. Please get in touch sooner rather than later with resoling concerns.

Dream Spiral Slides
The uppers on these are made from 100% Organic Cotton lined with leather. I advise that you seal them with something like Scotchgard before wearing out. They should be kept away from moisture as this still may cause marks on the cotton. To clean, wipe gently with a damp cloth and dry immediately. With significant wear, the leather soles or heel rubber may need to be replaced. Please get in touch sooner rather than later with resoling concerns.

Black Boots + Studio Mules
The uppers on these are made from Chrome Tanned Leather.

Leather is a natural product, a skin, and needs to be cared for the same as your own skin. These will arrive with the upper leather lightly conditioned. This means that they will be resistant to small amounts of moisture. To ensure they stay this way, and to ensure the leather stays supple, apply a leather conditioner every 6 months. If the leather is not conditioned regularly, it is more likely to stain in contact with moisture.

You can purchase the Done by Matea Leather Conditioner here. Apply with a soft cloth in circular motions and allow to dry overnight away from direct sunlight. Be careful not to oversaturate any one area. Upon applying it may darken slightly, however it should return to normal once fully dry.  Regardless of which conditioner you choose, always spot test a small, inconspicuous area of the leather before applying the leather conditioner to your new boots.

With significant wear, the EVA or leather soles may need to be replaced. Please get in touch sooner rather than later with resoling concerns.

Please note: Veg Tan leather will naturally darken over time, with exposure to sun, UV and conditioning products. This is a part of the natural ageing process of the material, and will be most noticeable on light coloured, and un-dyed sections of leather. The Bush Boots are lighter and un-dyed in sections, meaning they will definitely age and weather visibly; this is part of their charm.

With significant wear, soles may need to be replaced. Please get in touch sooner rather than later with resoling concerns.

Kelp Slides + Not Paper Heels
The vegetable tanned leather uppers on these have been lightly sealed and do not require conditioning. However they should be kept away from moisture as this still may cause the organic leather shapes to deform. To clean, wipe gently with a damp cloth and dry immediately.

With significant wear, soles may need to be replaced. Please get in touch sooner rather than later with resoling concerns.
